I’m Sarah DeYoung, the stoked creative behind sarcreate—a blend of Sarah + create. I work full-time as a freelancer from my tiny studio on the North Shore of Maui (or wherever I’m traveling!), crafting custom designs for established and growing businesses. My creations include logos, t-shirt designs, patterns, fine art, and more.
Inspired by surf culture, tropical living, outdoor adventures, and board sports, my art is characterized by my unique hand-drawn style, setting me apart as a digital artist and graphic designer. On top of that, I live and breathe the subject matter I create art about. I feel so immersed and connected to what I'm creating, it is a true extension of myself.
I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Art Education, with a minor in painting, from Western Michigan University. My earlier life path involved teaching and educating children through the fine arts art, helping them open up their creativity in all mediums. I still feel a strong tie to my roots in education, helping grow brands and teach them how to develop a unique, cohesive art style. At the same time, I love pursuing my passion as a fine artist. I’m stoked to be blending so many things I love into my own business.
Growing up in the beautiful Great Lakes state of Michigan, I have always loved being on, in, or near the water. As an adult, I have lived in Maine, Hawai’i, and Alaska, never straying far from a body of water.
Water’s flow inspires my life and art. Like water, I go with the flow, letting life’s path take me wherever it leads. This openness spills into my creativity, making my work fluid and adaptable. Water’s cleansing and healing vibes keep me refreshed and inspired, helping my art stay fresh and full of life.
